Hello! I'm Molly Rahtz, an artist from Cincinnati, OH.
I'm currently a student at the University of Cincinnati majoring in Fine Arts, minoring in Film and Media Studies.
I create paintings and video art that comment on the experience of being an artist in a society that seeks to diminish the voice of the creator. My works verge on the edge of comedic sarcasm, illustrating the fears of my generation of a future foretold in deceptively dystopian sci-fi movies. I combine deeply personal stories and anecdotes with mythological references, psychological experiments, and film theory/composition to explore the challenges of individual preservation in a late-stage capitalistic world. In a world that prioritizes profit over creativity, I contemplate the weight born by the artist, and seek to provide a catharsis for those who feel that heaviness.

Fun Fact: My artwork is featured in the opening credits for the movie Bones and All (dir. Liza Guadagnino).
