Hello! I'm Molly Rahtz, an artist from Cincinnati, OH.
I'm currently a student at the University of Cincinnati majoring in Fine Arts, minoring in Film and Media Studies.
I am a multimedia artist who specializes in video, installation, and oil paint. Investigating anxiety and its impact on the psyche, I draw upon my own obsession with being in control of every aspect of my life. Artmaking is my way of categorizing and organizing the increasingly turbulent world around me; I interrogate mythological and religious anecdotes to broaden upon the grounded lessons and rules that I grew up with, which I then manipulate to create a manufactured dominance between artist and medium.
This emphasis on storytelling, as well as my technical skill, allows the viewer to create their own narratives and ponder what-ifs while having an emotionally impactful experience. My interplay between media creates a tension within my pieces that adds to the cathartic experience when they are displayed, an outlet of negative emotions organized by time and space.

Fun Fact: My artwork is featured in the opening credits for the movie Bones and All (dir. Liza Guadagnino).
